International Travel Discounts

Star Alliance is the official airline network providing travel discounts for international delegates to the 2008 IGC/IRC from your home location to Beijing and return.

Save up to 20% on Business Class and up to 15% on Economy Class airfares to Beijing with the participating Star Alliance carriers! The Star Alliance carriers participating are: Air Canada, Asian Airlines, Austrian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Span Air, SWISS International Air Lines, THAI, TAP Portugal, and United Airlines. Making your travel reservations is easy! Contact one of the participating Star Alliance member airline carriers or your personal travel agent and reference Convention Code UA002S8 to receive the discounted fares.

Delegates can go to the website www.staralliance.com/conventionsplus. Once logged-on to the site click on Delegate Login. Then use the Convention Code UA002S8 to check the individual Star Alliance member airlines flight schedules online as well as find contact information for the reservation department of the particular airline of interest to you. When making reservations through the reservation department, be sure to give them the Convention Code UA002S8 in order for you to receive the applicable discount.

If you are working trough a travel agent for booking of airlines you also need to give them the Convention Code UA002S8 to receive the applicable discount.

If you are attending a pre- or post-congress tour:
All travel within China will be paid in your tour registration fee with all arrangements made by the Chinese Organizing Committee in charge of the tours unless you specifically request alternative arrangements. You must purchase your airline ticket from home to Beijing (PEK) or Kunming and return home. All tour arrangements will begin in Beijing or Kunming and your tour airline ticket will return you to Beijing or Kunming following the congress or the post-congress tour depending upon the tour you select. See the list of pre- and post-congress tours in this Announcement.

If you are NOT attending a pre- or post-congress tour:
You may purchase your tickets with the Star Alliance discounts for travel to and from Beijing. You must make your own separate arrangements for travel to Hohhot and return following the instructions provided below with AIR CHINA.
The Chinese Organizing Committee has made arrangements with AIR CHINA for discounted rates within China. For your travel within China you are advised to contact an AIR CHINA office to purchase a separate ticket for that leg of the journey.
